Dressage Disaster Highlights: Jill Irving and Arthur Grand Prix Freestyle

Dressage Disaster Highlights: Jill Irving and Arthur Grand Prix Freestyle
Friday night under the lights is one of the biggest highlights of the Global Dressage Festival. This week at Dressage Under the Stars the livestream cut out during Jill Irving’s ride. I decided to go back and check out the replay to see exactly what we had missed. Sure enough, Jill Irving from Canada had a bit of a disaster ride on her new Grand Prix horse Arthur.

I decided to chop this freestyle down into the highlights because most of our fans are not watching the whole grand prix freestyle anyway.

You can check out more of Jill Irving’s warm up on her other horse Degas in our blue tongue video feature here: https://youtu.be/Gt0Ira56RU0

The Canadian Dressage riders have not had a good week here at Dressage Hub, you can check out Karen Pavicic’s disastrous warm up rides here: https://youtu.be/U6XevCdL9GM

Karen Pavicic: The Breaking of Don Daiquiri

Karen Pavicic: The Breaking of Don Daiquiri
The sign of a good trainer is that another rider should, in theory, be able to get on the horse and effortlessly ride it. Karen Pavicic sold Don Daiquiri a year ago to Daniel Hirosh. Last weekend he scored in the low 60’s and I went on a mission to make a who rode him better video as I have done with so many horse and rider combinations before. On a mission to discuss judging bias in dressage, I found this instead. Every single warm up clip I have of Karen Pavicic has the exact same wrestling match with her and Don Daiquiri in the warm up ring. These segments were filmed over the course of more than ten different shows.

Instead of uncovering a judging bias or a fun comparative video of another top rider taking over the proverbial reins, we are now looking at a discussion about how the breaking of a horse by one rider becomes a chore to over come for the next.

This week Karen Pavicic has also announced that rather than riding for Canada in the sport of dressage she will now be representing Croatia. Some of you may recall a judging fiasco, which was the result of a giant sized temper tantrum that Karen Pavicic threw after she failed to obtain the qualifying scores to head to the Olympic games in Rio. She filed an attack against the judges claiming an absolute bias against her. I would invite you to watch the clips of the warm and decide for yourself if this riding is the caliber that we should idolize and ascertain to as dressage riders.

Charlotte Dujardin and En Vogue Winning Dressage Freestyle at Liverpool

Charlotte Dujardin and En Vogue Winning Dressage Freestyle at Liverpool
Charlotte Dujardin is unstoppable! With 10 horses attending the European Dressage Championships and 10 Championship Titles awarded to her she is absolutely setting the world of competitive dressage on fire!

She is competing at Liverpool for the first time, and she is bringing her rising star En Vogue and 8 year old gelding.

Charlotte Dujardin rocked the Freestyle with her up and coming horse En Vogue aka Vogue. Scoring a 78% at Liverpool London means this pair is off to a great start, and En Vogue has some big shoes to fill in the shadow of Valegro! We are looking forward to a bright and exciting future at the Grand Prix for Charlotte Dujardin and En Vogue!

“En Vogue is competing at Inter 1 level and is a real star for the future. He can be hot and it has been a challenging journey so far, but getting him out to major competitions is really helping him to grow in confidence and he is just getting better and better. I am really looking forward to experiencing this amazing show with him.”

Robert Dover Gives Anti Bullying Speech At Horsemastership Program

Robert Dover Gives Anti Bullying Speech At Horsemastership Program
Yesterday I posted a video on Facebook for Dressage Hub, indicating that USEF was having ongoing technical issues with the audio on the live stream. Unfortunately the dressage community took that as the opportunity to attack both Robert Dover and the Young Rider he was teaching.

Dressage Hub has always been an anti bullying platform and I do my best to protect the young riders who are often featured in my videos. These riders are doing the best they can and while I am open for discussion on my videos I am not open for attacks.

FEI has started an anti bullying campaign called #notinmyyard and while it seems more and more people move to end bullying in the horse community it has become rampant. Robert Dover took a moment this morning to tell all the bitches on the internet to dial back the crazy. Stop being jerks.

My only thoughts on this is that he should hold the riders accountable for the same behavior as well.
