Robert Dover: The Truth About Flexing Your Horse Left and Right
This is one of the most common solutions to fixing the suppleness in the dressage horse, however, according to United States Olympic team dressagecoach Robert Dover, it is time to throw it out of the tool box and leave it there!
This quick fix in riding leaves you riding your horse from front to back instead of back to front. Meaning you lose the hind end and engagement while trying to get the horse to bend and supple. This quick fix does exactly the opposite of what needs to be done to make the correction.
For many riders eliminating this may take a bit of work, and it helps to film yourself riding dressage to see if and when you are doing it! Good luck!
