This can apply to lower level horses too. Simply take the same principle and apply it to the movements your horse can do like collected trot to lengthen stride. If you are advanced and can do the piaffe then go for it and make magic happen. In this video Olympian Steffen Peters shows how to develop self carriage through simply collecting the horse within each gait. This is a simple exercise that creates a fluid response from your horse and you will not have to work so hard to collect and engage your horse in the long run!
