The countdown is on to the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo! The German, Dutch and United States dressage teams have all had team selection trials this week. The top riders in each nation go head-to-head in hopes of grabbing a coveted spot on the Olympic dressage team.
The Olympic trials are what dreams are made of, however, they are also the place of heartbreak. In the sport of dressage, it only takes a moment for all of your hopes and dreams to be crushed. For both Jessica Howington and Cavalia and Marieke van der Putten on Her Majesty TF the latter became the harsh soul-crushing reality of the team trials. Both Jessica and Marieke had difficulties in the piaffe and passage tour over the past week.
We have brought you those highlights here today. When the ultimate moment of dressage disaster strikes, somehow it is a lot harder to swing your leg back up and over and opt for better luck next time.
